Educational Background

Dr. Holliday received her BS in Nursing at Ohio State University in 1974 and her PhD in Physiological Psychology from the University of Washington in 1978. She worked as a lecturer at the UW and an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky before pursuing Post-Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology. She completed her internship at the UW Medical Center in 1984. She is interested in the biological bases of behavior and in psychological and physiological interactions- especially in why people get sick when they are under stress. Her dissertation was entitled, “Personality Characteristics of Extremely Healthy People.” She has written over ten articles on hormonal conditioning, coping styles, and physiological effects of stress. She edited the book, Stress: Psychological and Physiological Interactions, in 1984.

Clinical Background

Dr. Holliday is licensed as a Registered Nurse and a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Washington. She worked as a nurse for five years at different area hospitals including the intensive care, locked psychiatric treatment unit at Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Holliday has been in practice as a Psychologist for over 20 years. She has performed a wide variety of evaluations and worked in many different settings. She was a member of the team that performed Psychological Evaluations on all ex-POW’s in 1985-86. She has worked with the elderly and their families at local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. She has also performed evaluations for civil lawsuits and has served as an expert witness in court. As a therapist, Dr. Holliday works with individuals on issues of coping with stress, relationships, anxiety, depression, medical illnesses, and life change/transitions.

Credentials and Association Memberships

Dr. Holliday has been a licensed Psychologist in Washington since 1984 and a Registered Nurse since 1974. Dr. Holliday has been a member of the Washington State Psychological Association since 1982. She has been elected to several offices, has served on the Ethics committee, and received the Distinguished Psychologist award from WSPA in 1990. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychosomatic Society. She is recognized for her expertise in Psychology and is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and the American Board of Forensic Examiners. She is also credentialed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing.

Dr. Holliday has served as a volunteer on the boards of professional, environmental, and educational associations.
